Armstrong Atlantic State University opened a new Learning Commons in the spring of 2013 which included a 500 square foot green roof. The project is LEED Gold certified and includes many other sustainable concepts. The green roof includes a very unique plant known as Albuca ‘Frizzle Sizzle’, a bulb native to volcanic regions in South Africa. The bulb produces curly leaves, a daffodil-like flower and is drought tolerant. It feels quite at home in the LiveRoof engineered soil and thrives on this green roof.
